Biometrics are automated method in which we recognize a person with his behavioral or physiological characteristic. Biometrics are used to identify a person on the basis of its vital statistics. The word Biometrics is taken from the Greek word which is made up of two words “BIOS” and “Metrics”. Bios means Life and Metrics means Measurements.

The first biometrics system was created in 1870 by French anthropologist. It has basically two types that are: Behavioral and Physical Biometrics. Many devices have been made out of this technology like IRIS Scanner, Fingerprint scanner, face camera and DNA matching etc.
It increases security and lowers the cost of password administration. Overall we can say that Biometrics is now being used in almost all the areas.
